Jīvaka Phārma was established on November 26, 1970, on the holy day of Sri Dhanwantari Jayanthi, by Dr Samala Ramesh Babu and his brother, Dr Samala Lakshmana Babu. The company is named after Vaidya Jīvaka Komārabhacca, the personal physician of Gowthama Buddha. The brothers aimed to produce high-quality Ayurvedic products at affordable prices, and they were greatly influenced by their mentor, the renowned Guru, Scholar, and Physician Dr Achanta Lakshmipathi.

Dr Samala Ramesh Babu’s vast knowledge of Ayurveda has been instrumental in shaping the philosophy and culture of Jīvaka. However, his contributions are not just limited to Jīvaka. He has significantly contributed to Ayurvedic science through his teachings, literature, formulations, research and treatment techniques. Dr. Samala Ramesh Babu has also played a pivotal role in the successful run of M/s. Academy of Ayurveda, which Dr Namburi Hanumantha Rao founded.

Dr Samala Lakshmana Babu’s leadership qualities and dedication to customer satisfaction have been crucial to Jīvaka’s growth. Additionally, Dr Nagalingam Lakshmi Narasimha Rao and Dr Samala Sachi Devi were the driving forces behind Jīvaka. They were both passionate about bringing new products and improving the quality of health products in various therapeutic segments, which helped Jīvaka support its growth strategy and bring positive change to the community.
